About Us / Our Story
This is our story of helping the needy
Joy and I established this IRS approved Public Charity (Tax I.D. # 86-1193604) at the end of 2020. We did this so the observant Jewish (and of course, others of like minds) public would have a home charity that best supported a broad range of vetted, needy agencies and individuals. Doing so ensures that our donations go to the truly needy rather than fraudulent destinations.
While making your own targeted, charitable donations, we hope you would consider adding our Public Charity to your list of personally chosen charities.
Fully 100% of money contributed to our fund is charitably distributed. We have no paid employees. Any fund expenses are paid personally by us and other sponsors, not by Gan Fund receipts.

Special projects
Our Recent Special Projects
H & J Gan Fund occasionally learns of a special need, requiring greater donations than our typical contributions. In those instances, we will create a temporary special project that donors can then specify when making their contributions. IMPORTANT: Donors must indicate that a donation is for an H & J announced special project when making their donation. Otherwise, all donations received are dispersed at our discretion.
During 2024 we created a special project to raise funds for chayalim boded. When these brave souls are on leave, many are without the resources necessary to pay for the routine necessities of life, such as food and clothing. Our volunteer special projects manager was able to raise nearly $9,000 to provide these important necessities.
On March 12, 2026 Temple Israel of West Bloomfield MI’s preschool with 140 staff and children in attendance was murderously attacked by a Dearborn MI based terrorist. Temple security neutralized the terrorist but his vehicle turned into a ball of flame emitting very toxic smoke. More than 60 1st responders were hospitalized. We are distributing baskets of aid to their families in support of their current needs. Please indicate on your donation that it is for this project rather than our general fund.
